Movie Summary

The association Save Cinemas in Morocco became a reality in November 2007 with its participation at the 7th Annual International Marrakech Film Festival. Born from the profound desire to save Moroccan movie theatres from their slow and steady decline and eventual obliteration, the association is here to assure that these movie houses remain regional vectors of culture and communication. Today, Save Cinemas in Morocco has a primary objective to initiate campaigns that will raise awareness and concern for the survival of movie theatres throughout Morocco as well as all things that touch upon cinematography. Communicating, uniting and taking a stand regarding the fates of theatres is essential if they are not to disappear. This threat is also closely linked to film pirating. The cultural and economic integrity of these theatres are in danger because of the unscrupulous and irreverent exploitation of pirated films which compromise a films official release and in turn decreases attendance at the theatre. The aims of our association are the following: • Renovate movie theatres and renew a network of film projections that reflect Moroccan and International diversity • Promote the field of cinema as a career in Morocco • Take a due diligence of the situation so that the necessary agencies and local players can take proper action • Publicize major events such as festivals, professional trade shows, movie premieres, colloquiums and round tables in schools regarding cinema • Spread …
