“Life at Macquarie” Shawnte519’s photos around Sydney, Australia

31 Mar

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Sydney, Australia by TravelPod blogger Shawnte519 titled “Life at Macquarie” Shawnte519’s travel blog entry: “Hi all! Well since Sunday I have been at Macquarie Uni which is where I will be attending classes. I am so excited to finally get back into the swing of things! Sunday I could not stop cheesing (:D)because I knew at the end of the orientation I would be heading here. Once we arrived and got our housing assignments, Naomi, our resident director helped us get settled. Afterwards we went to the shopping center to buy groceries. The shopping center is massive!! There is an ice skating rink, a movie theatres, and a mall. My groceries were a little more than I had hoped to spend but I probably wont have to go back for a while. When I got back I met my housemates Ariel and Jenna both from the States. They’re really nice and we seem to get a long well. After unpacking and taking a shower all I really wanted to do was go to bed but I really felt that since it was my first night that I should at least make an effort to meet some people. So I went around to the different town houses and introduced myself and met some pretty cool people. Yesterday, (Monday) I went around campus with Michelle then we went to Manly beach. It was a little cool outside but it was so nice when we got there. We stayed at the beach pretty much all day! When we got back the Resident Assistants bought everyone pizza and I met a bunch of other people

Carbonated Pop Icons Part III

29 Mar

Carbonated Pop Icons is an all digital production originally filmed from 2001 into 2002. It follows a day in the operation of a movie theatre and it’s employees in a small shopping center the day before the biggest weekend of the summer. Carbonated Pop Icons was written by LL and Mike Shannon , both former managers for the movie theatre industry. The majority of actors used in the production were former or at the time of production, movie theatre employees. Since all movie theatres have few “dark hours” all shooting had be accomplished with limited resources, quick setups, mobile equipment, and quick rehearsing. The majority of filming took place from 11 o’clock at night until 3 o’clock in the morning or 5 o’clock in the morning until 11 o’clock morning. Most filming blocks consisted of five mintues rehearsal with three to five takes. Due to the presence of the theatre techs and cleaning crews at night and into the morning, 90 percent of ambient audio was added in postproduction. Senior theatre management “looked the other way” as long as shooting did not infringe on the theatres normal operation. Due to the difficult shooting schedule most coverage for all scenes were filmed weeks or even months apart and placed together in the postproduction process. Specifically one sequence contains four elements that were each produced over 30 days between. When production wrapped in 2002, the film enjoyed a long postproduction process as the company that owned the theatre was sold
